Under the Awning Blanket Crochet Pattern Update

Under the Awning Blanket Crochet Pattern Update

I suppose it happens. I must accept change. I'm not talking about changes like my kids growing up, or the crows feet at my eyes, or the tire treads on my car wearing thin. I'm talking about changes required to keep my crochet patterns updated. Fortunately, updating my Under the Awning Blanket pattern was a no-brainer. I knew the first time that I held Scheepjes Softfun* in my hands it was the perfect substitute for the discontinued yarn used to make the original blanket. Let me show you the colors I chose for this one...

You might remember the original version of this pattern in bright rainbow colors or that I used this yarn for my Taking Shape Pillows. One thing I can say for certain is, "If the name fits..." It's a super-soft on the hands, cotton-blend DK that comes in some glorious colors. Although I selected colors for this version in refreshing blues, yellows and grays, there are enough Softfun colors from which to choose to make one similar to the original or in any colors you wish.

That yellow-green family is definitely calling my name right now. (Look away, Sue. Don't even get distracted playing with colors. Focus, Sue. Focus. Squirrel!)

In the new pattern update you will see...

  • a complete materials list--this one uses 18 50g balls of yarn in 9 colors and a 3.5mm hook
  • a special stitches section, detailed notes, and stitch abbreviations (US terms)
  • a detailed and tested written blanket pattern plus border
  • several pictures and descriptions to help you through that are found at the end of the pattern and don't need to be printed but provide a bit of extra help, if needed

Would you take a look at that stitch definition and texture?! It makes me seriously giddy. You can find the pattern here on Felted Button in my shop. Or you can purchase it on Etsy here.

I'll stop in shortly with some new fun Felted Button happenings. In the meantime, be happy, be well, and crochet as much as time affords.
