Pink, green and white flowers crochet blanket or pillow pattern by Susan Carlson of Felted Button | Colorful Crochet Patterns, Little Dutch Girl

Little Dutch Girl Pillow & Afghan Crochet Pattern

I'm a Dutch girl by ancestry as my great-grandfather and grandfather emigrated to the US from The Netherlands. My father speaks fluent Dutch. And one of my favorite flowers has always been the tulip. So naturally when I worked up this little tulip-shaped flower pattern, that seemed the perfect name for it--
LITTLE DUTCH GIRL

I decided that I would design the pattern as a pillow but provide instructions to make it into any size blanket, too. Versatility is good, right?

I think the pattern could be ideal for an experienced crocheter--it's a bit tricky--so I included 40 pictures to help you out!! With that extra help, I think it is more of an intermediate level pattern. But you don't have to print those pictures--they come in a section of their own, so print the pattern section for on-the-go hooking! Once you get the pattern down, it really flows nicely!

The yarn I used is Lion Brand Baby's First--a nifty bulky (5) cotton and acrylic blend, but any bulky yarn would work well--whatever suits your use and space.

It is very soft and squishy--washable, too! One of my testers, Sangeetha of Crochetkari, worked hers up in a DK yarn and it is still just as lovely! It's easy to adjust because of the included multiple to make it for various sized pillow covers.
I made the back of the pillow simple and plain as a contrast to the flowery front and the instructions for it are included in the pattern. I also include a few pictures of how to put it all together--joining the back flaps and making the buttonholes.

And I wanted it to be a removable cover so you could throw it in the wash, if needed. These rose buttons made me giggle with glee when I found them. (I love buttons--are you surprised?)

Overall, I'm really tickled 'pink' about this beautiful pattern. It would be so sweet for a little baby girl's nursery or crib blanket. And it would be elegant on a little girl's twin size or bigger bed. Goodness, it would make a lovely little feminine afghan to snuggle under.

It might even be wonderful in a single color of green for the leaves and a rainbow of flower colors!! Ahhh! Just my style!
