A Little Pillow Pattern Peek

If you follow me on Instagram (@FeltedButton) or Facebook you might recall this beautiful Scheepjes Softfun *Aquarel and *Softfun that I was working with a while back. It crochets like a dream!

Scheepjes Softfun and Softfun Aquarel -- crochet project by Felted Button
I simply love the softness, colors and behavior of this yarn! It's a DK weight made with 40% cotton and 60% acrylic. To me, you get the tidy stitch definition of cotton with the memory, drape and color-fastness of acrylic. Plus, with 50g balls that are super affordable, you can add lots of colors together for some really pretty effects. And I love the "painted" appearance of the Aquarel.

For this project, I decided on some soft colors of the sea, and considered a name for the project along just those lines. But honestly, I typically try to avoid project names that limit the mind to a single color set. I want you to be able to imagine up whatever color scheme that suits you. So I've named my latest design...

I'm pretty tickled with them. I designed the set of 3 pillow covers with a graphic look in mind--something modern and crisp. The mandala pillow...

...makes me really happy because it used all of the colors of yarn in a pretty effect. The center begins with some simple overlay crochet and evolved into one of my favorite stitches--the moss/linen stitch. Besides playing with color, I love to introduce texture through interesting stitch placements. I am really happy with this pillow.

The Color-Block pillow cover is a twist on a traditional granny, joined in an interesting graphic arrangment with a contrasting yarn for a nifty effect, I think. I'm also really pleased with this one. I love the modern look of it.

Finally, I've included a really fun stitch pattern on the Herringbone pillow.

I looove the texture of this one--and the way the colors interplay with each other! Stay tuned for a tutorial for this one. I'll be sharing it here shortly.

The patterns will also include instructions for the back of the pillows. In typical Felted Button style, I couldn't make them in just one color--but you can if you wish. They would look pretty terrific in all crispy white! And, of course, the whole button thing is super fun.

So what else have I been working on? I've got two scarf patterns and a blanket that have rolled off my hook. I'll share the scarves in a few days, and I still need to photograph the blanket. But here's a peek at the yarn I used for the one of the scarves.

The scarf uses some of the new colors of *Scheepjes Colour Crafter that have just been released and I'm tickled about them! Yippee for even more colors--93 in all!!

I hope your day is full of yarn and color and people and fur babies that you love!
