Caramel Whirl Blanket Reveal

Caramel Whirl Blanket Reveal

Recently, I've shared my thoughts about the terrific Scheepjes Whirl* yarn lately (here) and teased you with a little sneak peek of what I was making. Today is the day where you get to see the sweet little creation I made with my single cake. I suggested that my design was small. It's a small blanket. Here's why...

See, when my daughter was little I was unfortunate enough to have her fall in love with a HUGE and thick crib blanket. Don't get me wrong. It was beautiful and matched her nursery. She named it Fluffy. But...she wanted to take it everywhere--literally, everywhere. It didn't stay beautiful for long. That blanket circled the globe, went to every restaurant, shopping trip, and sleepover at Grandma's. It even went with her to college. On all of our excursions, there was simply no way to stuff it in a bag or suitcase. Oh, how I wished Fluffy was smaller! Like--this Whirl blanket. If only. It would have been such a better blanket with which to create a life-long bond!

You might be thinking that one cake isn't enough--and it may not be if you are wanting a larger blanket--but, remember...Fluffy. I wanted something lightweight, small, lovey-sized. You know, the kind you can take while on-the-go, drape over a little one in a carrier or tuck into a diaper bag. This is that blanket.

It measures 31in (79cm) square so is just enough to cover a little one, but with it's drape and breathability--it's perfect for carrying around by a toddler or little one.

If you're thinking about a larger one, however, the pattern will be easily adaptable to add more repeated rounds. And by starting one cake from the inside-like I did with this one--and one from the outside, you could maintain the beautiful color gradient.

I've got more Whirl on order for 2 more designs I have in mind. I honestly can't wait to get my hooks into it. If you want to drool over all of the amazing colors available, you can see them at Wool Warehouse here* or Deramore's here*--they both ship internationally from the UK. You may also find it at Lovecrochet which ships from the US here*. Remember, each cake has a whopping 1,000m/220g. And there is no other color changing yarn like it out there with the subtle changes of color. I'm smitten.

Watch for the pattern next week! In the meantime--crochet, think joyful thoughts, enjoy each day and feel peaceful.
