Primrose Pillow Crochet Pattern

How has your year been so far? What a whirlwind things have been so far for me!! Family, business, home repairs, and a never-shrinking list of personal tasks. But I'm excited for what this year will bring. Today I'm introducing to you a new crochet bolster pillow pattern that I named...
In all its Felted Button style, it's got texture and color, so I'm tickled with it.
It all came into being when I was rummaging through my stash one day and happened upon a few balls of Scheepjes Merino Soft that were left over from my Last Dance on the Beach Blanket. Remember this one?

It was such a fun blanket to make--one that never gets boring. You can read more about it here. But the colors felt happy and soothing and just what I needed for this new project.

I was first introduced to this heavenly soft yarn when I used it to make my Chromatic Cobbles Blanket.

The colors are heavenly and the yarn has the most touchable squish ever. It feels spongy, I tell ya! Anywho, off on a tangent.

OK. I'm back on track...about the Primrose Pillow pattern. (Now isn't that a nice alliteration? Say it fast. No, stay on track, Sue.)

I knew I wanted to make a pillow, but something a bit different than a square one. (Crap. That reminds me, I've got a cushion cover pattern to write using my Asanas Blanket motif. No, Sue, focus!)  So I opted for a bolster. And I like that I could have a square motif with mini-mandala ends.

Thanks to my brilliant tester tribe, the pattern for this bolster pillow is all clean and edited and ready for your hook.

Doesn't it look so pretty hanging out on my sofa? What colors would you use in your space?

You will need the following materials to make this pillow:
  • 4.5mm (#7) crochet hook or size to meet gauge
  • one (50g/100m) ball of each of 8 colors (detailed in the pattern) of Merino Soft which is a light worsted weight yarn and 3 balls of the main color
  • bolster pillow form* (get yours linked here or linked in the pattern)

The pattern includes:
  • complete materials list including colors used
  • stitch abbreviations and special stitches sections in US terms
  • thoroughly tested 14 page written pattern
  • phototutorial of both the flower motif and end motif to help you through (They don't need to be printed because I put them all at the end and not scattered throughout the pattern. They are not meant to replace the written pattern but definitely help if you are a visual person like me.)
The pattern is rated as experienced because of a few interesting stitch placements and such, but everything is detailed in the pattern--like all the special stitches. And since the photo-tutorial has 72 images to help you out if you get stuck, I think an ambitious but less experienced crocheter could be successful with this one.

Now that it's all done, I'm really itching to make a blanket out of them. I can even envision the border in my mind. Now where's my hook?

Oh, but before I get distracted again and run off...

You can get the pattern for the Primrose Pillow in my Felted Button shop, or on Etsy here, or LoveCrafts here.
